All-Stars Complete

It was truly painful to watch at times, and I can imagine it was even more painful to play, but it’s over and we’ll refer to it as a very interesting character-building experience. How does that sound? I’m a little worried he’ll never step foot on a baseball field again. The good part is that they have short memories, and by next year, this tournament will be forgotten, and hey, they got to play a little baseball, right?Okay, maybe not forgotten, but a distant hazy bad memory, and while he doesn’t believe it, he did really good.We may not have won a game, but dammit, we had the best looking uniforms out there, and you can’t beat that, so don’t even try!

Try it Again

We showed up again last night to try to finish the game that got rained out in the first inning the night before. We didn’t get through another inning before it happened again. After huddling under the bleachers for awhile in the rain, the boys were lucky enough to be able to head back out on the field and finish the game. I say lucky, because if this game took another day to play we were all going to lose it.It was one of the longest games ever, and the score was NOT pretty. Everyone in the family came home thinking, man… we could be in Destin right now. Is that wrong?

All-Stars

All-Stars has officially begun. I didn’t break out the camera at the game, but I did get a few pics of his cool new uniform. Our brackets kinda suck. I think we are the only B team stuck in a bracket with two A teams. What sucks even more is one of those teams is ours. They are doing something different and allowing every team to play at least 4 games, which is great I guess, but when the two teams you have to play are the best two A teams in the entire tournament… well, you get the picture.So we basically got our ass handed to us last night. Why we couldn’t be bracketed with some other B teams I’m not sure. I hope the boys have a good time anyway. I’ll let you know when the good times start to roll. And if they don’t, well, I’ll let you know that, too.

End of the Year Braves Party

Scott always tells his team at the beginning of the season that we will have a pool party at the end. They look forward to it. Our last official game was this week, but we have a couple make-up games scheduled next week. To accommodate everyone’s summer travels that are sure to follow the last day of school, we decided to go ahead and have the party today. It was the perfect day for it, and the kids had a blast. There was swimming, pizza and beer… no wait, it was juice boxes, lots of party food, cupcakes, and most importantly… trophy presentation.Scott did a great job presenting and making sure to say something special about each kid. There was the most improved, the biggest and strongest (and best hitter), the best game face… you get the idea. For some it was their first year playing and probably their first trophy ever, and that made it quite a treasure.Jackson was still as happy getting his as he was his first,and has the big fake smile to prove it! He was named the Brave who got the most outs. It helped that he played first base a lot.As always, I grabbed my three favorite Braves for a picture! Gotta love the coaches kids!!!And one more of just the two brothers. It was a great season, Braves!! Congratulations!

Then and Now

Scott and I were looking at baseball pictures this morning and ran across this. Keep in mind these are pictures of pictures, and yes, all those specks are dust. Don’t judge. I can tell the difference of course. Christian outweighs Jackson by about 20 lbs, his hair is a little longer, and he has just a tad more color. Jackson has not perfected Christian’s nostril flare, nor is his hat perched on top of his little head. But the similarities, OH MY GOODNESS, can you see those? I have a feeling we could have had ten kids, and they’d all look a little along the lines of this. We totally should have because, and I’m not just saying it because I’m their mother and required by law to think it, we make some cute ass kids!

Catching Up on all those Baseball Pictures

I told you I’d get around to all those baseball pictures from last week. I always love to get my man in his get ready to run stance. He is really serious about this. This boy is nothing if not determinedHe played 1st base,and he’s pretty serious about that, too.It all seems worth it to him when he gets an out.Johnathon was so cute playing 2nd base. The ball was hit to him and his eyes got so wide! He made a good stop, too.Thomas came in and played some 1st base. He’s serious about it, too.Jackson was playing in the outfield, but it didn’t stop him from trying to come in the infield and make a play, even though you aren’t really supposed to do that. The funniest thing was when he came running in to try to make an out and ran smack in to the base runner. It didn’t bother the base runner all that much, but that’s him going down.Moving on to Christian’s game…He played a little 2nd base then pitched. Is it just me or does he look almost full grown here? They won their last game and the end of the season tournament starts this week. Now, how’s that for some baseball pictures!

Last Regular Season Game

Christian just finished up his last regular season game. Rumor has it that there is a tournament coming up in the next week or so, although I haven’t gotten the details on that yet. I took more pictures tonight, but baseball nights make me tired, so I’ll get back to you on that. I just really loved this one. More to come…

Sometimes it feels like we spend most of our lives at a baseball field. I’m not complaining, truly, I love it, but are you sick of baseball pics yet? Not much I can do about it, just thought I’d ask. These are from Jackson’s game earlier in the week.He got a double. Lately he gets in his stance ready to run after the ball is hit and it is freakin’ adorable.Being fast is serious business.
