Our girl turned 5 today, or I guess she’s 35 in dog years or something like that. Let me tell you how hard it is to get a picture of Lulu. She doesn’t like my camera one little bit. If it’s in my face, she won’t look my way. Seriously, she’ll do anything to avoid it!See what I mean? That’s okay. We still love our birthday girl.

It Was a Splash!

Jackson wanted a water slide for his birthday party and it was a hit. The kids started sliding and swimming around 11:oo and continued on after the party finally giving it up around 5:00 or so.Somewhere in there we managed some Happy Birthday,some candle blowing,some chocolate cake and ice cream,and opening presents. Jackson had the best time playing with his buddies all day. Towards the end of the party, he was so worn out, he just sat there staring into space. I don’t know how he mustered up the energy for another 4 hours of playing with his cousins, a visit from Maw Maw & Paw Paw and Deedy, and a night time swim, but he did. Thank you to everyone that made my baby’s 7th birthday such a special day!

He’s been waiting for this day, for well, 7 years! We’ve always told him that 7 was the magic number for being able to go to his friends’ houses without his brother. Don’t mind the two parents and one aunt watching him the whole way, as far as he was concerned, his day had come. He hopped on his new bike and took off.Happy Birthday my big man. I hope you had a fantastic day filled with friends, presents, and your favorite part of the day… Pizza Hut! Enjoy your new little freedom. Now excuse me while I shed a couple tears.

Lifelong Joy

I got a birthday card today from my Mom & Dad that said Daughters are a lifelong joy, and you know, I kinda am a lifelong joy. Okay, no, I’m really not, but to them I am, most of the time. Tonight, as Scott and I assessed my day, which old people sometimes do, I told him it was one of the best birthdays ever, and it was. I woke up to my boys climbing in bed with me and singing Happy Birthday. I never left the neighborhood, nor put on make-up. I spent most of my day in a swimsuit, which is always good. The neighborhood kids swam while the parents visited over at a friends. I ate crawfish, had a real coke and a we all had a candy bar in place of cake. I watched my boys play baseball in the front yard and took pictures. I got tons of messages, phone calls, presents and texts all day long, and a card with one present telling me that I was a lifelong joy. My day ended with the boys climbing into bed with me and singing Happy Birthday. I always thought that getting older was really going to suck, but so far it hasn’t. Turns out, sons are a lifelong joy, too. Thank you to everyone who made my day so special.

Happy Birthday Emmy Cake

We went to Emmy’s Birthday party today and the boys had a blast. It was at the park behind some baseball fields, which is the best of both world for these kids. Emily is 6 now, and she looked adorable.Her dress even matched the decorations and the cake. Who knew girls could be so fun??? Not me of course. Mam Maw climbed the jungle gym. I was sure we were either going to have to call an ambulance or the fire department to get her down, but she made it down safely on her own. Happy Birthday Emily! Hope you had a great day!

I really don’t have a post, because I’ve spent the last two days running around trying to get all the little things done for the last day of school before the holiday. I swear, I’ve been in the kitchen for two days, and if you know me, you know that is just insane. I didn’t want the day to pass without wishing Scott a happy birthday. I don’t have any good pictures scanned to share, but hopefully after tomorrow, I’ll have the time to dig up some embarrassing stuff. Happy birthday Scott! Hope you had a nice day! Love, me and those two cotton headed ninny muggins.

Back Up Plan

Once again, I’m getting to the pictures from a week or so again, so the next couple posts will be out of order. Since we had to postpone Christian’s party due to injury we tried to make it special with just us. After dinner with a menu requested by the birthday boy himself and a cookie cake, we went down to the pit and made a fire.The boys made me a nervous wreck with their fire sticks waving in the air. I tried to keep them in check, but finally had to shut it down.Something about three young boys waving long torches in the air spells trouble, ya know? Especially when one of them is six years old.Drew came over and spent the night. These two get along so well. They rarely disagree on what to do, and always have a good time. Christian is lucky to have such a great cousin and friend.Jackson is one of the boys, no matter the age difference. He’s always in the mix and just assumes that he’s supposed to be there. I love that the big kids allow him to tag along. That says a lot for them.Daddy kept the fire and the kids under control. All in all, I think Christian had a good night. Well, other than that whole injury and party canceling ordeal. I guess it can’t always be rainbows and sunshine.

It’s hard to believe it was eleven years ago today that we were welcoming this sweet bundle of joy into the world. There hasn’t been a dull moment since. Happy Birthday to my most favorite eleven year old in the world!
