Boys Wear Pink, Too

As most of you probably know, it’s Breast Cancer Awareness month, and we are showing our support. I don’t know many people that aren’t affected by breast cancer in some way or another. It wasn’t that many years ago that one of our good friends and neighbors had to fight her battle, which she won. So, when we get asked to wear pink, we do it. When we get invited to walk for a cure, we accept and strap on our running shoes. After all, we want a cure, and we’d wear pink while walking each and every day for a year to get it.

We made it to the Air Show Sunday. It was a miracle, but we did. We had just eaten, and weren’t there 5 minutes before the kids found something they had to have. I ended up with one, too, and it was good, but still… 5 minutes? Really? Emmy Cake was the only one that would even look at me for a picture!Now, for all those plane pictures.I know they aren’t as close as they appear, but dang, these guys are CRAZY!My sniper wasn’t on the roof in the same spot this year, but there was this guy keeping watch. He was lifting his finger right here to point at me. I’m pretty sure it was to tell me to stop pointing my camera that way. Christian kept asking me why I was taking his picture and would I please stop before I got shot. I did.It really was awesome, but I tell ya, I questioned our sanity as we were standing under those planes doing crazy stuff above us. One wrong move, and we were toast. I’m watching from the boat next year, and don’t try to stop me!

Okay, after all that (see the last three posts) they pet a cow, while carrying around stuffed animals they won, then we rode off home into the sunset. Is it just me or was that the longest fair trip ever!?

The boys finally found a ride they could both agree on, but they needed Daddy to ride, too. I was worried at first that Jackson would get on there and figure out quickly, this wasn’t what he signed up for, but that didn’t happen. He smiled the whole time.Scott couldn’t even fit his head through the bars. Can you tell he didn’t fit?When the ride stopped, Jackson hopped off and faked a heart attack.Not to worry, he and Christian both loved it, so much so that they ran back for more tickets and rode it again.It’s so sad that my boys are old enough to ride the big rides by themselves. No more cute motorcycle or choo choo trains, bring on the roller-coasters!

I had so many pictures, I’m breaking them into a few groups… I’ll start by saying that my boys weren’t all that interested in rides. They were way more interested in the games, which, if you ask me, are rip-offs. The fair for me is about food and rides, but as we all know, it’s no longer about me. Thanks to Josie for getting the fair ride pictures rolling. Jackson wanted to ride the slide, but Christian wasn’t having it. Some things he’s either too old for, other things he’s too cool for, I’m not sure which category the slide fell under.Jackson didn’t care, he was doing this, with or without his brother.He rode the slide three times, and if you ask me, he looked awfully cool doing it!

Well, we made it to the fair Friday. I have tons of pictures coming, but for now, just so you know, I wasn’t the only one that was excited. He hasn’t met a fair he didn’t love.

On Fire

The woods not too far from our neighborhood caught fire the other day. We rode over to a closer neighborhood to see if we should start packing up our valuables.It moved fast and was jumping roads, but luckily our Fire Department got it under control. It still smells like smoke outside.

Don’t Give Me a Point and Shoot

Seriously, I don’t know what to do with it anymore, and this is what happens. We went to see Rodney Carrington at the Beau Rivage this weekend with some friends. I figured I couldn’t bring my camera, so I stuck my trusty waterproof point and shoot in my bag and hoped for the best. I took one picture and realized the best would never be good enough, especially when it kept focusing on everyone in front of me. I put the little camera away and Fred enjoyed the rest of the show without my flash beaming him in the back of the head the rest of the night. We had a blast and Rodney is absolutely hilarious. We just don’t have any pictures to prove it, not that a picture could really do that, but you know what I mean.

The Market Street Cruz In is NOW…

The Pascagoula Hot Rod Association and they are having a “Cruz In”. It’s going to be the first Saturday of each month starting tomorrow! It will be held at the Down Town Plaza in Pascagoula from 4:30 p.m. until midnight, and all vintage cars or lovers of vintage cars are welcome. If you have any questions call Dale Poole at (228)219-3309. I know one vintage car and vintage car lover that will be there. Please pass this information along to anyone you think might be interested.

Ok, I’m trying to make myself want to vote, maybe this will help. I’ve never been more unsure, or more informed, in my life. Truth is, if I don’t vote, I’m not allowed to bitch, and I really want to be able to bitch. I really do care, too. Anyway, check it out!
