The Saints, the 11-12 year old version, had their last game of the season Wednesday night at the stadium. We were tied with the Ravens for 1st place, so whoever won last night won it all. Well, everyone got the same trophy, but I guess there were some bragging rights involved. Unfortunately, our boys won’t be the ones bragging. We lost 14 to 12. While they were disappointed for a few minutes, they were easily distracted with trophies.

This week it was the Saints vs. the Jets. Things were going really well, until #5 down there broke his arm. That’s Garrett making that tackle, and it wasn’t the one where bones were fractured. Thank goodness. I don’t think any of them want reminders of that.It shook up the boys on both teams, but it didn’t stop them all from wanting to win. I love this picture! Christian’s man apparently wasn’t open and he had to try to get a few yards with a Jet on his heels. His Coach was all, what are you doing? Throw the ball! But sometimes things don’t work out that way. He broke that tackle, but they got him shortly after.We ended up winning by the skin of our teeth, but it was a nail-biter to the end. We sure are going to miss #5 playing in the games, but I’m sure we’ll still see him out on the field supporting his team.

Game 1

Christian had his first game Tuesday and all went well. As many pictures as I took, I missed the one of him making an interception. How is that for being on the ball? Now, for the rest…They had to take a knee for an injury on the field. It may not be an exciting play, but it’s easiest to take pictures at night when your subject isn’t moving so much and that doesn’t happen too often out there. The player was fine, but Christian looks like he could use a break. And then we won!

Well, Here We Go

Christian started football practice a couple weeks ago, but this was the first one I made. He’s playing quarterback and safety, just like his Daddy. Scott was recruited to be assistant coach, and I don’t think he minds one bit. Practice starts with the boys getting dressed and ready.Then there is a lot of running, playing, throwing, and kicking. They did tackling drills.It looks hard.So, they have to rest.Daddy has to do a little coaching, or loving, or something.I’m not sure, but my guess is Christian is probably explaining how he knows better. He does that occasionally.He’s pretty cute, so he gets away with it sometimes.It was a good practice, but I left 15 or 20 minutes early and missed his best tackle of the night. I think I already told you about that, bad momma that I am. My next football pictures should be a game. Get ready!!!

Are You Ready For Some Football?

It’s official. Sign ups were last week, and try-outs were this weekend, so we are all ready for a little football. Jackson opted out again this year, but it doesn’t stop him from practicing out front with his brother.Christian is getting back into the swing of things.It doesn’t matter that they are playing in the front yard, every catch is just as important and the one that might win the game. Gotta love that about him.So be prepared for the onslaught of football pictures. I gotta do what I gotta do!Don’t worry, there will always be a little of this kind of thing to break it up.Just because you are playing football doesn’t mean you can’t shine, right?

Don’t Tell Jackson

Okay, so the picture really has no relation to the post, I just pulled one of Christian from the holidays since I was gone all day with Mom and didn’t pick up my camera. Tonight is the BCS Championship Game. Why is it they play such an important game on a Monday night right about the time my kids, that can’t wait to watch, are going to sleep? In emergency situations, we have had to get check-ins because of this horrible planning. Usually we just let them stay up and suffer through a day of being tired, but last night Jackson couldn’t get to sleep. Even after Christian had gone to bed, Jackson was still wide awake worrying about school. He was dragging this morning, and by 5 today I didn’t think he was going to make it. If he would have been still long enough, he would have fallen asleep. Needless to say, staying up just wasn’t an option. I was so worried how he would take the news, but then he didn’t mention the game. He never asked the time or the channel, how late he could stay up, or mention how he just couldn’t bring himself to pull for Cam Newton. Oh wait, that last part was me. My little football freak forgot about the game! I know it’s wrong, but we didn’t say a word. We all kept quiet about it, even Christian. We put him to bed at regular time and flipped on the game. I’m not sure when we will break the news that he missed it, but I suspect that when he’s sitting in class and putting the date on his first assignment it will hit him. I just hope he’s in a forgiving mood. Oh, and for a little more on subject photo…

Just because the Christian and Lulu photo snuck up on me in those football pics, doesn’t mean I didn’t find any football shots I liked. In this house, football is the end ALL, especially for Jackson!It doesn’t matter if it’s watching, collecting the cards, re-decorating your room, or playing… it’s always about football! Can you tell?

Greyhound Stadium

Christian had his first football game at Greyhound Stadium last night. I got a few shots of my man carrying the ball, and I thought, maybe we’ve seen that before. I mean I take the same pictures every week of Christian taking the snap, handing it off, and occasionally running or passing the ball…But it wasn’t at GREYHOUND STADIUM!!!Scott isn’t the coach this year, but it doesn’t stop him from coaching. Christian doesn’t seem to mind.Of course, he could be telling them a story about turtles mating, who knows!Jackson finally made it to a game. The games don’t usually start until his bedtime, so he hasn’t been coming. We gave it a shot tonight.Thirty-five minutes in, he was laying down on the track using my camera bag as a pillow trying to take a nap. We packed up and headed home. After we left, Christian’s team won, at Greyhound Stadium! It was a good day.

Sick of Football Pictures Yet?

Well, that’s all we have around here. The Dolphins lost their first game pretty bad. They lost their second game in overtime. But guess what, they won their third game Tuesday! You know what this means? They are getting better. They all started out awesome as individuals, but as a team they are getting better… fast! Watch out!
