Today is the first day my kids know a world without Ollie in it, and I can&#8217;t even begin to tell you how sad that makes me. <img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1162" title="ollie007" src="http://www.peepadeedle.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/ollie007.jpg" alt="ollie007" width="600" height="840" />I brought this little fur ball home, despite protests from Scott and despite the fact I didn&#8217;t have the money to spend on him. I charged him. The second I walked in with him, he stole everyone&#8217;s heart, including Scott&#8217;s. He was the best stupid financial decision I ever made.<img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1164" title="ollie008" src="http://www.peepadeedle.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/ollie008.jpg" alt="ollie008" width="900" height="642" />I was beside myself as a first time momma and he went everywhere with me. <img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1165" title="ollie009" src="http://www.peepadeedle.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/ollie009.jpg" alt="ollie009" width="900" height="643" />When the human babies came, Ollie freaked out just a bit, then accepted the change and embraced it. <img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1166" title="ollie010" src="http://www.peepadeedle.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/ollie010.jpg" alt="ollie010" width="600" height="840" />It&#8217;s always nice to have your own chauffeur, I guess.<img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1169" title="20081109_36561" src="http://www.peepadeedle.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/20081109_36561.jpg" alt="20081109_36561" width="900" height="718" />More kids, just meant more loving, and Ollie made room in his heart for Jackson, although I think he was hoping this was going to be it as far as human babies.<img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1170" title="20081109_3663c" src="http://www.peepadeedle.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/20081109_3663c.jpg" alt="20081109_3663c" width="900" height="677" />So, today we lost our Ollie and that makes for a sad, sad day.  I have to agree with Christian, losing your dog is like losing all your very best friends. We are going to miss our Ollie-hondro, but the good part is all his hurts are gone and he&#8217;s probably in heaven right now playing chase with Dixie. Damn, I&#8217;m going to miss this dog!<img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1172" title="20080415-1-1" src="http://www.peepadeedle.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/20080415-1-1.jpg" alt="20080415-1-1" width="900" height="643" /></p>

I explained how we got Ollie at a store, and never met his parents, so I guessed that Scott and I were his Mom and Dad. That seemed like a perfectly fine explanation for him.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_108B7AdNllc/SReFOXdTK9I/AAAAAAAABH4/CGidZRhDYUc/s1600-h/20081109_3656.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2103" title="20081109_3656" src="http://www.peepadeedle.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/20081109_3656.jpg" alt="20081109_3656" width="900" height="643" /></a>Later, this afternoon, we decided to give Ollie a bath. Jackson loves to help bathe the dogs, so of course he was right there to lend a hand. After we washed him, and toweled him off, he briefly got away into the back yard. We caught him and brought him back to get under the blow dryer. While I dried, Jackson was brushing and asking lots of questions.<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_108B7AdNllc/SReFN1nMKyI/AAAAAAAABHo/YEmPF2biKIQ/s1600-h/20081109_3648.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2105" title="20081109_3648" src="http://www.peepadeedle.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/20081109_3648.jpg" alt="20081109_3648" width="900" height="1260" /></a>Jackson: Mom, why does Ollie have brown hair?</p>
<p>Me: Well, probably because his Momma or Daddy had it.</p>
<p>Jackson: Oh, you mean back when y&#8217;all were dogs?</p>
<p>Me: Ummmm, yeah!<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_108B7AdNllc/SReFOX_gC9I/AAAAAAAABHw/rcPPLDxa86M/s1600-h/20081109_3660.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2106" title="20081109_3660" src="http://www.peepadeedle.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/20081109_3660.jpg" alt="20081109_3660" width="900" height="643" /></a></p>

Pretty easy, huh? It&#8217;s someone&#8217;s sniffer, right? But, you couldn&#8217;t possibly know whose. About 10 or 11 years ago, we can&#8217;t agree which, I, and my boyfriend at the time, got a baby, our first bundle of joy. We were still dating at the time&#8230;I know, not ideal, but these things happen every day and work out fine. We are totally ok with that. I guess I should clarify that <strong><em>I</em></strong> got a baby. My boyfriend, now husband, had no knowledge of this until I brought the baby home, I mean to his house, all wrapped up in a blanky. Ok, these are all just silly details, none of which should concern anyone, because the happiness that followed far overshadows everything else. So, without further ado, I&#8217;d like to introduce my first-born&#8230;Ollie.<img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2811" title="20080416-(1)w" src="http://www.peepadeedle.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/20080416-1w.jpg" alt="20080416-(1)w" width="900" height="600" />Okay, so I didn&#8217;t carry him around in my belly for 9 months, and he isn&#8217;t of the human variety, but he is soooooo my baby. This is Ollie now, trying to get a few Z&#8217;s in on the couch before the kids get home from school. He looks a little annoyed because I&#8217;m taking his picture while he&#8217;s trying to sleep. He is the cutest llhasa apso I&#8217;ve ever seen, and don&#8217;t even bring up mommy goggles. He&#8217;s so stinkin&#8217; cute, you gotta admit it. Now, like our other canine baby, he has some quirks. Thankfully he can&#8217;t reach countertops, or bums for that matter, and he hardly sheds at all, but he is scared of a lot of things. No really, the list is endless; balloons, flashlights, any toy that makes noise, thunder, lightning, wind, duck calls, come to think of it, those kinda scare me, too. Terrified of the vacuum, firecrackers, and oh my, don&#8217;t even show him the flash on your camera. He&#8217;ll probably lose his lunch right there. Quirks and all, he is a sweetie. My children have never known a life without Ollie, and honestly I can&#8217;t really remember one without him either. How can you not love a face like that??<br />
<img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-2810" title="20080416 (2)" src="http://www.peepadeedle.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/20080416-2.jpg" alt="20080416 (2)" width="600" height="400" /> I think that face means &#8216;please don&#8217;t bring home any more babies&#8230;&#8217;</p>
