Have I mentioned how nice my boys looked the other night? Emily and Anna looked beautiful, too!The ring bearer and the flower girl, is there anything more adorable?Jackson didn’t crack much of a smile down the aisle, and Emmy was so careful with her one petal at a time routine. They both did fantastic.And, now, for a little trip down memory lane. This handsome man was a ring bearer for his aunt when he was seven, too. Look how small he is…Come to think of it, we were all a bit smaller in those days! My boys really do clean up nice!

Take a Good Long Last Look

Because, it’s the last time you are going to see this! I had to document all the pretty artwork.I have no idea why both of my children love Alabama. They have absolutely no connection there. Not once did they draw anything about the Rebels or the Golden Eagles. The Saints are the only team we can all agree on.Anyway, Friday, Scott got the cast off. He is officially free, except for that walking boot he has to wear for the next month. At least he can shower and sleep cast free. He can also take it off whenever he likes. I can’t imagine how awesome that must feel! Physical Therapy, here he comes!

Yucky Ankle Picture Alert

On October 28th, right before going into surgery, they removed Scott’s cast, and his leg looked like this. It was still pretty black and blue, swollen, and crooked. During the surgery, his doctor fixed it all up with some hardware, stapled him up, and put a cast on. I won’t bore you with the details of how awful he was to those poor nurses in recovery, or how when he found out I was only allowed 10 minutes back to see him every 4 hours he started pulling off wires and cussing. I certainly won’t explain how the nurses had to call his doctor at his request less than 2 hours after surgery and ask if he could be released to go home when he really should have stayed the night. I definitely won’t disclose that those same poor nurses couldn’t kick his ass out fast enough, and had him safely buckled in my front seat 10 minutes later heading back to Ocean Springs. Good times, good times… Scott’s cast stayed on for 10 days, then we went back to have the staples removed. The doctor said that everything looked great, and he was right where he needed to be as far as recovery goes.When he showed us the x-ray, I couldn’t help but ask about that one errant screw. It looked like the doc just dropped one in there by accident and forgot all about it.He assured me that the errant screw had a purpose, and he didn’t seem like it bothered him that I was questioning his mad surgery skills. Come on, you know that screw looked wrong!!!

Looking Just a Bit Better

Scott saw the surgeon Tuesday, and yup! He definitely broke his leg, dislocated his ankle, and tore all kinds of important stuff, not that there was any question. Friday, they are going to fix it and then he can finally move in the right direction on the road to recovery. Jackson freaked out when he saw the next picture. “What is that white stuff on his heel????” he asked with alarm. I know he thought Daddy had knocked his heel off in the process. I told him not to worry, it was just cotton stuck to his foot.So, hopefully, after a plate, 7 screws, a metal rod and some wires, he’ll be good as new. He’ll set off metal detectors for the rest of his life, but he’ll be good as new!

I’m going to tell ya right now, if you are easily offended, even the tiniest bit squeamish, or prone to acid reflux… turn away. Okay, those with acid reflux can stay, but the rest of you, exit now. Move along. Seriously, come back another day, because this is gonna be offensive on so many levels.Scott broke his leg and dislocated his ankle early Saturday morning. He woke up at 4:30 to get some water and decided he needed some ice. Something happened on one of the first couple steps and he fell. He didn’t fall far, but that leg was somehow rolled underneath him and all his weight came down on top of it. Oh-em-gee! It was gross. His foot was turned one way, and a bone or some craziness was sticking out another. Somehow he drug himself the rest of the way down the stairs, and he leaned on me and hopped his floppy foot to the car. Laura came over and stayed with the boys who, thank goodness, slept through the whole ordeal. By the time we got to the hospital, the toes were turning purple and they knew they were going to have to pull or pop or whatever it back into place to get the blood flowing down there again. They drugged him up and proceeded to twisting on it. Seriously… how do people do that? It was awful. I’m so thankful he doesn’t remember a thing about that part. I missed some of it, but will never forget the few minutes I witnessed. They basically got him duct taped back together and sent him home with meds and instructions to call the surgeon Monday. On the way out, the male nurse told him how most men don’t do too well with his kind of injury, and he was his new hero. So, we made it home and are going to the Doctor early in the week. Surgery will most likely be at the end of the week. In the meantime, he’s patched together and going on mostly like nothing happened, trying to ignore the crunchy feeling of his bones and burning where everything was torn and pulled apart. It’s going to be a long road, and I think this is how he feels about it.Told you this was inappropriate. So here’s the part where I tell you, if you don’t want to see it, don’t scroll down, seriously, don’t. Laura took this with her cell phone while I gathered together our necessities. It doesn’t come close to showing you how yucky it looked, but you’ll get a pretty good idea.

The moral of the story is, ice just isn’t that important. Or something like that.

I Was There, Too

While we were taking pictures at the beach with friends, they got a few snaps of us, too. Zac Jones took this picture of me taking pictures of the kids. This is probably more me than any other picture in the world. Thank you Zac. I love it! Kelli managed to get one of all four of us, which never happens. Don’t be jealous of my frizzy hair. Thank you Kelli for capturing one out of only a handful of pictures I have of all four of us. Remind me to do that again sometimes.

Beach Part III Close Up

Usually beach pictures want to capture the people, but the scenery is just as important. I like those pictures, but sometimes I want to focus on what’s mine. Don’t get me wrong. I like to throw in the landscape,but these faces are what’s truly important to me. Do you recognize that look? It’s an Are you kidding me? I can’t take another picture, Mom, FINISH THIS! look. Even Scott will let me take his picture, especially when he’s not paying attention to what I’m doing. Jackson is nothing like those two. He’ll take time for a picture. If you want, he’ll even strike a pose. Now, that’s what I’m talking about!

A Little More Destin

Our week down in Destin included no pool time because of Jackson’s ears. No one missed it, except maybe me. The boys found plenty of things to occupy their time… mostly fishing. Ever since Jackson lost some teeth, most of his pictures look a little something like this.Lulu watched over everything as usual.Christian was catching a fish every time we turned around.There were many lazy mornings watching TV,and snuggling with Daddy.We visited almost every park on property.Really, who needs a pool???

June Clean Sweep

Truth be told, I haven’t even scratched the surface of June. I have so many pictures I’ve taken and have not even laid eyes on, but here are a few that I have.During our first trip to Destin this summer, we played some putt-putt one afternoon. Unfortunately, a little rainstorm blew in and we had to make a mad dash back to the condo.We followed that exciting partial game by some strawberries and chocolate.It was ever so glamorous.Back at home, there was more fishing.There was also a little boy that was so worn out by summer that he could barely keep his eyes open.Last, but not least, there was a new addition to our family this month.The boys have been begging for a fish forever, so after finally getting parental approval, they pooled their money together and got a tank and a fish. Meet Spiky. He doesn’t do much, but he sure did make June a great month.I’m sure I’ll be adding more June pictures, but for now, we are all caught up to July. Carry on!
